As the harsh grip of winter loosens and the days stretch longer, the earth begins to stir.

One of the symbols of Ostara is the egg; eggs symbolize the promise of new life. So, of course, what better way to celebrate the Vernal Equinox than an eternal symbol of spring paired with spring's first vegetable, asparagus, fresh from our garden.

As one of the first vegetables of spring, it's no surprise that carrots make a delightful appearance on the table during an Ostara Dísablót feast.  This brightly flavored salad hearalds in the sunshine.

Long ago, Mjoll came to us from the Isle of Fire and Ice, where mountains breathe smoke and glaciers shine beneath the northern lights. She did not travel alone.
